“I love the Psalms, because in them the highest theology collides with the down-to-earth struggles of life. The Psalms are where God’s children can be honest with Him about their pain and suffering and yet honor Him as God. The psalms are where we see the people of God wrestle with the deepest issues of life, issues like worship, authority, sin, eternity, and death. And yet the psalms are filled with hope, hope in the coming Messiah, who would suffer and die but resurrect and reign as King over all. The Psalms sing about how this divine and yet human Messiah would bring about the joyful fulfillment of all God’s promises for the people of Israel and for the whole world.

In light of this great hope that we find in the Psalms, I’ve written a number of them to music in order to remind myself and others of the goodness of God and of the power in God’s Word. Please join us as we take six weeks to take a close look at the meaning behind several of these psalms and then learn how to sing them with fresh, memorable melodies that I’ve written. It’s my hope that as we gather, we can worship God together by singing His Word back to Him, and these melodies can also serve to help us memorize God’s Word and remember His faithfulness that centers in Jesus the Messiah. This class, though short, should prove a worthwhile, engaging, and unique study of the Psalms.”
