Good vs Evil

The “problem of evil” is undoubtedly one of the most challenging of all questions Christians are faced with from an unbelieving, secular world. How can we make sense of the idea of a loving, all-powerful God, and the existence of horrific suffering all around us? From philosophy, to theology, to ethics; many attempts have been made to answer this challenge.

A possible answer to this question is rooted in one of the most important themes in Scripture; namely, that God always prepares us for what is to come. In this class we will explore how the path to glory necessarily leads through suffering. Suffering is the mechanism by which God burns away the dross from the lives of those He loves. Through suffering He purifies and prepares His people for what is to come.

Christ has promised that if we are to share in His glory, we must share in His sufferings. So, the coming glory God has promised in His kingdom requires suffering in preparation. Join us, as we explore and grapple with this difficult topic and explore perhaps a fresh perspective on how eschatology (end times study) intersects with theodicy (the vindication of God via the problem of evil).
