The purpose of this course is to learn how to correctly interpret the Bible. Primarily, the course will cover the rules to apply when interpreting different types of Biblical literature such as historical, poetic, prophetic and epistolary.
The course will include the principles of the literal, historical, grammatical and cultural hermeneutic. It will also cover symbolic language and how that interacts with the literal hermeneutic.
The historical aspect will include the historical backgrounds of biblical events and the grammatical aspect will focus on the meaning of the terms at the time they were written. Recognizing that while the whole Bible is to us but the whole Bible is not for us will clarify what applies to us today and what does not.
By applying the rules of interpretation, this course will also focus on the eight covenants of the Bible which give a knowledge of the Bible as a whole which, in turn, will make the study of the details much easier.
