Shalom Dear Friends,
New Website
Our new website went active last month, and I wanted to highlight it in this newsletter because I am so happy with the great job James, our part-time Webmaster, has done. The site is neat, clean, and easy to navigate. That means that anyone, anywhere, can avail themselves of HaDavar’s evangelistic and discipleship material. Equipping yourself for Jewish evangelism and personal growth is just a click away. One of our students writes:
“Hi Bob, the new website is just fantastic and so easy to follow. I have recommended it to several of my friends who live out of the area.”
C.V.
Please pray that the Lord will use the website to evangelize and disciple many.
Distance Learning
I also want to encourage all our friends to take advantage of our Distance Learning classes. Since HaDavar is on the Internet you can take any of HaDavar’s classes anywhere in the world at your convenience. We have both “audio only” and “video” classes. Our courses are in-depth and from a Jewish perspective. We cover such subjects as, “The Jewish Life of the Messiah,” “Anti-Semitism: Causes and Effects,” “How to Pray,” “Ezekiel,” and many more. Just go to “School of Biblical and Jewish Studies” and click on “Online Classes.” If you complete 80% of the class sessions for a particular class, you will earn a Certificate of Completion. Jump in, you’ll enjoy the swim! To date, the YouTube video classes have experienced 8,993 views. One of our distance students, S.D., writes:
“Your online classes are awesome! I just started the one on prayer and have already learned so much! Thank you for having this valuable resource available.”
Please ask the Lord to use our Distance Learning classes to disciple and evangelize many around the world.
UCI Update
We continue to set up our Bible book table on the campus of the University of California Irvine. We are incredibly grateful to the Lord for His blessing on this ministry. As of this writing 136 students have made professions of faith since January 1, 2013. In addition, five students have returned to the table with the same basic story: “I prayed with you some time ago. I am reading my Bible and I am in fellowship. I am doing well.” Wow, thank you, Lord.
A friend of the ministry writes:
“Dear Bob, I love hearing updates on your college ministry especially. Soooo wonderful. Very inspiring. I did some of my graduate work there, so I know the general campus flavor, with young people intent on conquering the world with their braininess. It is a smart crowd, but your work is a needed missing link, and I think they must really feel that gaping hole in their lives.”
J.P.
Please continue to pray that God will bless our UCI outreach.
Evangelist’s Update
Our Staff Evangelist, Lynn, is aglow with all the opportunities God has brought across her path. Early in May she experienced this incredible incident:
Shalom Y’all,
It was a good day of joining God in His Kingdom work; I was amazed at what He did today!! I went to visit a Jewish friend who is quite ill. I called to ask if I could drop off some food and visit; she mentioned that she was getting a bid for some work on the garden fence but to come anyway.
When I arrived my friend had left the door open and I could see her talking with the contractor in the garden. She left the contractor to finish measuring, and sat down with me on the couch. I asked her how she found the contractor; she mentioned that he was from Israel, and a nice orthodox man.
The contractor came in and introduced himself; he is a very kind, orthodox Jewish man. I introduced myself as a friend of Israel; the conversation went from England to soccer, as he had almost played professionally.
The conversation turned to spiritual things and involved the three of us, lasting well over an hour . . . wow!!!
My dear, sweet friend of over thirty years does not believe in God; she lived through the Nazi occupation of Hungary and immigrated to the USA. I have been witnessing to her for many years about Yeshua; like many Jewish people, she does not know much about her religion.
To make a long story short; I identified myself to the contractor as a believer in Yeshua, and mentioned my Jewish roots from Liverpool, England, that comes through my mother. It was well hidden before my mother was born and never recognized by her.
The contractor was very interested in my Jewish background, and I was able to mention that we could only be forgiven by the blood of Messiah, that the destruction of the Temple in 70 A.D. makes it impossible to be forgiven by following the Law. It was an amazing time, as he was telling my friend how we have no purpose in life without God. I went to my car and gave him a Hebrew and English Tanakh (Hebrew Bible), which he was amazed that I had to give.
He opened it and began to read; we talked about the Book of Esther, and I briefly touched on Messiah’s Prophetic plan from Leviticus 23. Although there were obvious theological differences, we were both speaking of the need to know God.
This was a very exciting day, orchestrated by our amazing God. The contractor wanted to make sure that I realized I was a princess!! He is certainly correct on that one, of the royal courts of Yeshua! Please pray for my long-time friend and the contractor.
All the glory to our amazing God for orchestrating this and working in our lives!
Lynn
Thanks for your partnership in reaching the Jewish community.
Romans 1:16 —
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
