שלום חברים
Shalom Dear Friends,
As 2014 gets underway we thought it would be appropriate to look back at 2013 and thank the Lord for what He has allowed us to accomplish. We are grateful to Him and to all of you, our teammates. Thank you very much!
The only way we can attain a look back is through statistics. Statistics do not tell the whole story, but they will give you a glance at what HaDavar produced during the previous year.
Let’s begin with some University of California Irvine Bible Book Table statistics. We stand amazed at the results the Lord has brought about in 2013. Thank you, Lord Jesus!
- Students who prayed to receive Yeshua: 525
- Students who prayed and reported back: 15
While statistic #1 is a great joy and blessing, the most encouraging statistic is the second one. When we give out a Bible or a student prays to receive Yeshua we are not allowed to gather their contact information. We give them a “starter packet” and send them on their way. The “starter packet” consists of a Bible, information about campus ministries, and local church information. When we send them on their way, we encourage them to come back and see us again. Then we wonder what happens to most of them. When 15 students return and tell us that they are walking with the Lord, or in a Bible study, or going to church, or that the Lord is changing them and making a difference in their lives, we are blessed on a whole different level. Our labor is not in vain in the Lord (1 Cor. 15:58).
UCI is a multicultural paradise. We interact with students with backgrounds from all over the world and with philosophies that are just as diverse. We discuss Yeshua with students from the Far East (China, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Philippines, Indonesia), the Middle East (Egypt, Israel, Iran, Iraq, Palestinian Territories, Turkey), Europe (France, Czech Republic), South America, etc.
As far as philosophies go, the largest group of students we encounter, by far, are Catholics. This group is followed, in order, by Muslims, Jews, and Atheists. UCI is a very, very diverse campus indeed! Pray for us as we sow the Gospel seed into this very diversified field of ministry in 2014.
The year 2013 started with a diverse selection of classes as well: The Jewish Life of the Messiah, The Book of Revelation, Jewish Outreach, Scientific Apologetics, and Basic Biblical Greek. Jewish Outreach, Scientific Apologetics and Greek finished up in the Spring. Jewish Life of the Messiah and Revelation completed in the Summer. The Fall classes consisted of The Book of Daniel and How to Study the Bible. 2013 was a good year with lots of great classes and over 200 students. Thank you, Lord.
Please pray for HaDavar’s School of Biblical and Jewish Studies as we start up again in January 2014 with Zionism and the History of the Modern State of Israel, The Doctrine of the Holy Spirit, and Worldview Apologetics.
We continue to stand in awe at the Lord’s use of our YouTube classes. As 2013 drew to a close, the HaDavar YouTube channel had experienced 13,664, views and we have 107 subscribers. That’s a lot of online students! Remember, currently we video all our classes and post them on the YouTube channel for distance learning students. Feel free to join a class. For a video or audio class, please visit our online classes page.
In 2014, please pray for these distance learning classes that are reaching out around the world with quality evangelistic and discipleship material.
During 2013 we reached a new milestone in relation to our foreign language translations. We completed the initial translation of our website into Modern Israeli Hebrew. Currently, we are continuing with the project by translating all our Jewish-Christian testimony pages into Modern Israeli Hebrew. We want to do all we can to reach out to the modern State of Israel.
Please pray for the completion of this project in 2014. It has been fully funded by an unexpected donation. Thank you, Lord!
Thanks for being part of our ministry team,
Bob
