At HaDavar we like to keep our eyes and ears tuned to the modern State of Israel because the events that impact the Nation of Israel can have significant biblical importance. We do this by subscribing to various daily news e-mail services. Recently, we received our daily e-mail from IsraelNationalNews.com. The fourth article in the Monday, June 26, 2006 edition was entitled “Islam Will Conquer the West and the World, says Hamas.” The body of the article went on to contain these statements: “Several new videos proclaim that Islam will rule the world and the Western nations will be conquered by terrorists, according to a report by the Palestinian Media Watch. … ‘We will rule the nations, by Allah’s will, the USA will be conquered, Israel will be conquered, Rome and Britain will be conquered…’” Muslims make statements like this because Islam is more than a religion. Muslims believe in the unity of the umma, the “nation” of Islam. The Caliph, the ruler of the community, enjoys both religious and political status (Yahoo Encyclopedia).
These are rather frightening statements indeed. World-wide conquest is a goal trumpeted by Islamic fundamentalists on a regular basis. However, what should be our reaction to such statements? Should we tremble in fear? We should not give in to fear, rather we should turn to the Holy Scriptures and discover what the Bible has to say about such boasts.
The most important book we should turn to is the Book of Daniel. In Daniel 2 and 7, God paints us a picture of the prophetic future in very broad strokes. He tells us about the four most important kingdoms that will impact the Nation of Israel. Please note, God does not tell us about the prophetic future of most of the kingdoms of this world, only the prophetic future of those nations most important to His program and His people Israel. For example, neither the United States, nor China, nor Japan, nor etc. are mentioned. The four most important kingdoms from God’s perspective are Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome. It is Rome (better Roman Imperialism) that will grow to be a world-wide power. We read in Daniel 7:23:
“Thus he said: ‘The fourth beast will be a fourth kingdom on the earth, which will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth and tread it down and crush it.’”
Roman Imperialism is the kingdom that will conquer the world. The western countries, including the United States, are part of the Roman sphere of influence. This means that Islam’s boast is futile and biblically inaccurate. The West will not be conquered by Islam. We should mark the fact that Islam is not even mentioned in the Book of Daniel. Islam will not conquer the world because Islam is not important enough to be mentioned in the Bible. It is Roman Imperialism that will conquer the world. This will be especially true under the leadership of the anti-Christ.
But let us not forget the good news. The fourth kingdom will be, in turn, conquered by the Messianic Kingdom when Yeshua returns. Daniel 7:27 states, “Then the sovereignty, the dominion and the greatness of all the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be given to the people of the saints of the Highest One; His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all the dominions will serve and obey Him.”
Neither Islam nor anti-Christ will prevail, but only our longed for, holy, Jewish Messiah—Yeshua! Amen, come Lord Jesus!
